Mother Tongue Literacy

Mother Tongue Literacy

At CABTAL, we believe that true understanding begins in the language people know best, their mother tongue. Our Mother Tongue Literacy programs empower individuals and communities to read, write, and learn in their own languages, opening doors to education, opportunity, and spiritual growth.

Training local Facilitators

Learning in one’s first language builds confidence, strengthens identity, and enhances comprehension. That is why CABTAL works hand in hand with language communities to develop reading materials, primers, storybooks, and teaching guides tailored to their linguistic and cultural contexts. We also train local facilitators and teachers to deliver literacy classes that are engaging and relevant to daily life.

literacy Program Benefits

Through literacy, communities are better equipped to access information, manage their resources, and participate more fully in society. Most importantly, it enables them to read and understand the Word of God in the language of their hearts.

Preserving Linguistic Heritage

By promoting mother tongue literacy, CABTAL helps preserve Cameroon’s rich linguistic heritage while building stronger, more self-reliant communities, one reader at a time.
